Tintin, my childhood hero, has turned 90!
A long time ago, I decided that if I get kids one day, they would have ALL the Tintin books. And indeed they do!
Why was Tintin such big thing for me and my peers in Scandinavia while he was hardly noticed in America and never a big shot in Britain? Maybe because he is a very European hero. Well mannered, pragmatic and never more violent than necessary, Tintin is as decent a role model as any. Or so we thought. Since then, he’s been accused of racism (Tintin in the Congo), antisemitism (The shooting star) and sexism (every single book), but we’re not going to have that discussion now. The link above leads to an excellent article on the subject, would you feel the need to immerse yourself in the nitty-gritty of Tintin’s cultural background and political incorrectness.
For now, we’re just saying: Happy birthday Tintin!

Haven’t read Tintin books but that was quite a sweet read( with the photo of your boys) and great regard for 90 year old Tintin even with the mention of his supposed racism, sexism etc. Another enjoyable read. Thanks David
